Towing a Different Trailer

We have National Interstate Insurance on our truck and trailer.  Just found out we can't tow anything other then our own trailer and be covered under our insurance policy.  Can't get a rider either.  Was told it's because it is a HDT, a semi.  If it's a MDT or a pickup truck, no problem.  Can tow anything.  Weirdest thing I've come across with having this insurance company.

How about with yours?

I'm underwritten by Allied through Farm and City.  I can't tow anything else with my truck, and I can't use it as a "camper."  Other than that no restrictions.  I knew all this going into it.

I'm with National Interstate.
My "truck" is singled therefore rated as an MDT and whatever is hitched up is covered.
Hope this helps

We have Progressive, and they told us we're good with any trailer, even a commercial trailer, as long it's not being used for a commercial activity.

We are with Allied and truck and any (as long as it's not commercial) trailer is covered for liability but only owned trailers are covered for comprehensive.

We're with Progressive too and they told us nothing but our fifthwheel.  IIRC they were very clear about it and had me sign a separate acknowledgment of the restriction.

When I was with progressive I too had to sign....but they canceled the policy soon afterwards anyway.  ( that's when National Interstate became my underwriter )
Hope this helps
