Driving through Wyoming, when a air line blew apart on my seat, stopped on the next off ramp, loosing air fast, called Good Sam ERS, they took an hour to find someone to come out. I  explained to the guy they were sending, what had happened, and what I needed for the repair.  He said he would be there in 45 minutes.  Well 2 hours later he showed, tried to fix it, well he had no spare parts with him. had to drive 20 miles to the next town to get a new air connection.  An hour later we were back on the road.  I was still charged $200 for his labor, for a $10 part.  I have no idea what Good Sam paid for.  A nice 4 hours on the side of I 90 though, in the sun.

If I can figure out all the bits & pieces I need, I'm going to put together an air line emergency kit.  Just a few fittings of each kind & size along with some various replacement line.  I know some of the folks on here already carry spare fittings & line.  I drive the western deserts all the time and in some instances, it can be a long long way to any kind of help.

hmmmm,  I thought the labor portion was covered along with the "trip" charge as long as the repair could be made on the side of the road?

Nope, only covers the trip charge.

I have used them only once, and was not impressed.

4 1/2 hours of sitting on the freeway, and then when the young lad showed up he knew nothing about my problem.  Still with them though, as I don't know if others really are any better.
Cheers,
Bob

You sat on the side of the road because you lost the air in your seat? J just asking or am I missing something?

No it was not just the seat, it was the main airline to the seat, air was escaping so fast the compressor, would not keep up with the air loss.

I learned the hard way.

Good Sam ERS nor Coach Net will NOT pay for parts or labor.  They will pay for the service call, tow, winch-out, lock out and road charge.  YOU need to ask provider what their labor rate is and estimated time upon their arrival.  If you do not think it is fair, call your ERS back and tell them.

Got a flat tire?  They pay to send the mobile repair service to you.  The labor to fix or change the tire and any parts are not covered.  Example, flat tire on my dully PU two weeks ago. Coach Net paid road service charge. Labor to take tire off, break bead, install new high pressure valve stem and reinstall $18.  Valve stem,  $3.00. Good deal IMHO

Second Example: Bearing seized on trailer axle, wheel came off.  Coach Net sent out a mobile service truck that does trailer and tire repair.  Guy had to go back and get tire off highway, go to auto parts store and buy chain and links.  Jack up axle, put on chain and escort me to a RV dealer.  Coach Net paid $117.50 for service call.  I was charged $200 labor plus the chain at 200% mark-up.  I complained to Coach Net about what I thought was "excessive" labor and parts charge.  They paid an additional $100.

I had GS ERS until about 3 years ago.  Dropped them for same reasons - slow or no response.  Left high and dry by GS ERS twice.  Once with broken radiator hose on car, other with locked keys in truck.  Excuse? None of their "contractors" could/would respond.  In first case had to call for and pay my own tow truck.  Second, friendly deputy Sheriff opened the truck door.

As far as our big trucks go, Coach Net will send one tow truck and driver for up to two hours.  Or two trucks for one hour.  Maximum per incident payment by Coach Net is $300.  They will pay a road service call to fix a flat on our big trucks, but the LABOR once the service truck gets there is out of our pocket.  With a wrecker there may be a labor charge for hook up.  Depends on how wrecker company wants to bill it.

And don't forget all the road services companies/organizations basically work with the same contractors.  Some times you have to remind them what they are dealing with, in my case a 40' bus.  I had one incident where they sent a wrecker suitable for a 25-30 foot gasser MH.  When I called back to educate them.  They said "That's all we had available."  I then called the State Police for wrecker info.  The road service responded quickly when I sad "The State Police are going to use so&so if you don't call within the next 10 minutes."  Twenty minutes later the tow truck showed up.  Road Service excuse "Company wasn't in my book."  Hmmm whose book was he in?
