Detroit Diesel Series 60 Tips
1. If your having a hard time starting your Series 60 Detroit due to it being sluggish on start-ups this might be a good read.
The fuel check valve for a Series 60 Detroit is on the back of the head on the return line to the tanks.
A forum member spoke with many dealers/mechanics who told him that the Detroit Series 60 didn't have a check valve and many that said it did said it was on the secondary filter housing. He ended up finding the check valve thanks to Gem's truck and equipment in Ventura CA.
He said he took apart the check valve and found the O-ring broken. He replaced the 0-ring and said his Detroit runs and starts like new. He also said to make sure to use a good quality O-ring a Victo. All the cheaper ones he purchased would not totally seal and allow the fuel to bleed back allowing the engine to loose it's prime.
