We are camping in the Arizonian desert east of Yuma, and while checking the truck,  I found I had 2 out of 4 axle seals leaking.  One BAD, one just starting.  No Volvo dealer near and I thought you didn't need to be a certified technician to replace the seals, I did it once on my Loral spray truck in the field.  Not easy, I had just recently changed all gear lube to synthetic so I wanted all seals replaced. I took it to a shop in Yuma, (some new shoes), now can't get the ABS light to go off .  I disconnected batteries, etc., but no luck.  Any ideas?  What do you guys think about the fluid change, I thought it had synthetic anyway, but if not, could that have caused 2 seals to start leaking?  Thanks as always.

Synthetic lube will find a weak seal. Especially if a new seal was not installed correctly.  Wet brake linings do not stop very well.

I have seen some model trucks reset the ABS light after you drive 10 mph and up. My IHC will reset after I back up for 50 feet or more.

Most likely the sensor has backed away from the tone or toothed wheel.  There's almost no tolerance for error, it has to touch the ring (the axial runout of the hub/ring will push it back some so it only licks once per rev).

You can pull the codes off the dash, with description. that would probably confirm if it's one or all.

Also, maybe there was part of the old seal left behind?  I've seen it done on the steer axle, where there's a determined mechanic, there's a way.

And TSD is right, you will have to drive it to get the fault off once it's fixed.
