There is a recent topic on ERS vs. CoachNet.  My ERS comes up in March, and I might switch.  They've been good, but problems so far (tires) have been with the fiver.  Any input pro or con on service for us big guys would be appreciated.

I continue to read all these discussions about Emergency Road Service companies.  My only experience is with Continental Car Club which is included for $50 a year on my National Interstate full timer policy on the Volvo and Teton.  I have used the service twice in the past 5 years, once when I was stranded along side a country road in a remote area of New Mexico, more than 100 miles from the nearest service location.  Both times I have used them they were excellent.  I could not have asked for better service.  Both times they located a place that was qualified to work on my problem, and neither time was the distance to an appropriate facility even questioned.  Until I have a less than satisfactory experience in the future, I will continue to use them.  The price is right and their service has been excellent.

I have had Good Sam out on the Volvo three times.  Once for a no-start early in our ownership (it was sitting in my storage barn), they sent a HD tow truck and took it to the local Volvo dealer.  The next no start was on the road and the service guy they sent got it fired (and Lexington Truck Sales finally found the problem).  The third time was for a flat tire while in storage, they waited until I had procured a new tire and then sent out a tire service to change it.

Very happy with their response every time and I still have them.

Thanks for the replies, guys.  After all the talk on the topic, I didn't see any experiences with an HDT, thought I'd ask.

More comments welcome

I have GS ERS, no problems to report.  Used the service twice, both experiences were quite positive.  I will not switch, the price is also very reasonable.  Get them when they are "hungry", they will sweeten their offer with a little prodding..

I have had GS in the past and used them twice, once for the 5er and once for the truck.  The 5er was near Perry Florida (SE of Tallahassee) and they sent a service from Georgia that took almost 2 hours to get to me.  Was not happy about that and let GS know.  I just needed help changing a tire.  The HDT was near Clinton Montana when a rear tire let go.  The service was there in less than 15 minutes and had me back on the road with in the hour.  I was very happy and let them know that as well.  When we called for help and explained our problem and our vehicle the lady was very knowledgeable and helpful.  She knew right away what type of truck we had and got us the right kind of help.  I let my ERS expire because I had "towing and roadside assist" on my Allied Insurance policy.  Used it last fall when

I had a fuel filter clogged on the truck.  When I called them they said I would have to pay for any tows and services myself and then submit a claim.  I did as they told and was reimbursed for the service call and labor for the roadside repair within about 30 days.

I will be purchasing GS ERS again before our next big trip because I really don't want to have to pay out of pocket for a tow charge that could be big $$ and then have to wait to get my $$ back.

We have GS ERS.  Used them once in fives years.  Did take a tow truck almost two hours to show up.  But did get a call back from GS ERS one was coming and the tow truck driver called to say he was on his way.  For membership questions call 1-800-842-5351

Ron,
We too have GS ERS.  No calls as of yet.  I did ask them when I signed up about the Volvo and fiver and once I got through to the right person, they confirmed coverage and listed the Volvo on the policy so when I do need them, it will help set up the right response.

I have a renewal to take care of as well with a discount offer. Will be doing that soon.

This is a heads up for the folks that might be using GS emergency road service with their HDT and a LIVING QUARTERS HORSE TRAILER !!

I just got off the phone with GS and they told me POSITIVELY THEY WILL NOT DEAL WITH ANY ANIMAL TRAILER, PERIOD!!!  No matter if it is a living quarters trailer or not !!!

I am looking for a new emergency roadside service company !!!

Because of CRS, I can't remember where I saw it but there is a Road Service Insurance outfit that is exclusive for horse carriers.

I am suffering the same problem, CRS.  I have also seen some adds for those services but can't seem to find them now.  I'm still looking.

How about asking (PM) "aztowbum" - for an opinion.  Also - think he is a member of the "tow 411" forums - and might be able to ask the members there?

Best source of reliable info may be from the actual service providers - the tow operators.

"Just Enough" posted he had a lengthy chat with a CN rep - (but *not* about hay burner trailers)

Found a company called US Rider.  They provide coverage for most any type vehicle including the tow vehicle and horse trailer.  Going to contact them on Monday and get all the information.

As far as I can tell, they are about the only option for emergency road service while towing a horse trailer.  CoachNet has not returned my call so I will try them again on Monday also.
